DeAnn M. Mosher, RN

DeAnn is the clinical trials manager and a certified clinical research coordinator who has been with Medical Research Associates for over 8 years. DeAnn graduated from Northern Michigan University in Marquette with degrees in Medical Laboratory Science and Biochemistry then worked for a large pharmaceutical company as a research and development scientist in pre-clinical research. She then graduated from Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City with an Associates Degree in Nursing. DeAnn has been an RN for over 14 years, with hospital experience in the cardiac care unit and emergency departments. She also has 13 years research experience; inpatient, outpatient family care, outpatient specialty care (neurology) and pediatrics. Research allows DeAnn to get to know her patients, to help them understand not only the study process and requirements, but also their medical conditions and risks. DeAnn is also an EMT who volunteers for her local service and worked part time for 9 years on an advanced life support agency. DeAnn and her husband have two beautiful young daughters.

Birdie L. Besey, RN

Birdie came to Medical Research Associates 3 years ago with a nursing background in hospital critical care. Birdie attended Baker College in Cadillac for her nursing program. Prior to nursing, Birdie worked in several medical offices as a receptionist and medical assistant. She greatly enjoys the patient-centered care offered through the research setting. Having the opportunity to get to know her patients and follow them through their treatment process in the one-on-one environment offered through research is an important part of why she enjoys research so much. Birdie and her husband have three teen children who are very active in school, sports and extracurricular activities.

Mary M. Curtiss

Mary has been with Medical Research Associates for four years. Mary is our Data Entry Specialist and is also responsible for the majority of the clerical tasks. She is also known for trying to keep the Research Nurses organized and on track, although we are aware this is a formidable task and highly unlikely to be managed by a single individual, regardless of her fervor. Mary has worked in the medical field in a large hospital setting as a radiology office assistant and as the lead receptionist in a specialty care office. Mary and her husband live in the Traverse City area and enjoy spending time with their two grown daughters and one grandson.
